Brands Hatch played host to the final round of the British Touring Car Championship where Pirtek Racing had to maintain their lead and continue the push to score points during the final race weekend in order to secure the Independent Championship. Andrew Jordan came under pressure before the race from the main independent rival in second place Rob Collard, stating that the Independent championship wouldn’t be Andrew’s for the taking just yet, but after Andrew secured second place in race one further extending his independent driver and teams championship lead Andrew’s first independent title started playing into the Pirtek racing team’s hands.

During race two Andrews rival Rob Collard was involved in an altercation between Jason Plato & Gordon Sheddon in which Collard found himself in the gravel trap and eliminated from the race. At this point during a safety car period the ITV4 commentary team of Toby Moody & Tim Harvey announced that as a result of the racing incident Andrew had secured his first Independent Drivers Championship. Andrew was delighted to have secured the title after his sixth year in the British Touring Car Championship but was quick to point out that the weekend was not over yet, with the final race still looming Andrew had an Independent team championship to secure and celebrations would be on hold until that final championship was secured.

Jeff Smith of Pirtek Racing also helped to secure the title with top ten results in all but the third race. The consistent points of Jeff Smith & Andrew Jordan in the final race ensured that when the final chequered flag of the touring car season dropped the Pirtek Racing team crossed the line as Independent Team Champions. The hand built RT9119 seat manufactured from Kevlar and Carbon fibre is used by both Jeff Smith & Andrew Jordan in their Championship winning New Generation Touring Car’s and features a unique rear fixing rigid back mount that increases driver safety significantly in comparison to its rivals.

Andrew is now focusing on 2013, hoping to close in on the elusive overall British Touring Car Championship
